An area rich in tradition
Tourism in Val Gardena has roots stretching back to 1885, when the first tourist office was founded by a group of far-sighted hoteliers. So the valley’s tradition of hospitality goes back nearly 150 years, boosted also by its central position and by its function as a link between north and south. The first cable-car to the Seiseralm/Alpe di Siusi, then the most modern of its time, dates back to 1935. Val Gardena has constantly endeavoured to reconcile two seemingly conflicting characteristics: on the one hand the love for its roots and the enchanting surrounding mountains, on the other hand being open to technical innovations such as the daring tunnel with a moving walkway, connecting the centre of the village with the valley station of the Seceda cable-car. And it is precisely this blend of tradition and innovation that is perfectly expressed in Classic Hotel Stetteneck.
